Speaker: Professor Ruth Loos, University of Copenhagen
Title: The genetics of obesity: from genes to biology and precision medicine
Host: Professor Hindrik Mulder
Ruth Loos received her PhD at the University of Leuven in Belgium in 2001. She did a post doc at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge followed by an investigator position at Cambridge. In 2011, Ruth was appointed professor at Bronfman Institute for Personalized Medicine at Mount Sinai. She was recruited to the NNF Center for Basic Metabolic Research in Copenhagen in 2021, where she is vice-director. Ruth is also on the board of the EASD. Her cutting-edge research addresses the genetic underpinnings of obesity and related traits such as type 2 diabetes. She has taken a strong interest in personalised approaches to prediction, prevention and therapy of these disorders.
