Workshop and live demo: 3Brain BioCam Duplex with the Electrophysiology Core Facility

The Electrophysiology Core Facility invites you to take part in an exciting workshop this 26 June with Adil Gabarli from 3Brain. The lecture will be followed immediately by a live demo of the newest edition to the facility, the 3Brain BioCam Duplex - a high-density multi-electrode array (HD-MEA) platform.
Join for a 1-hour presentation by Adil Gabarli from 3Brain and a live demo of the newest edition to the facility, the 3Brain BioCam Duplex, in the lab on B10 using spheroids and brain slices.

About the 3Brain BioCam Duplex
The BioCam Duplex enables high-throughput electrophysiological recordings with signal resolution approaching the single-cell level. As a CMOS-based microelectrode array, this system works like a camera that doesn’t take pictures but instead films the electrical activity of cells—with each electrode acting like a pixel, sensitive enough to detect spikes from individual or small groups of neurons.
Potential applications include:
- Neuronal culture analysis (e.g., hiPSC-derived neurons, spheroids, organoids)
- Acute brain slices for ex vivo studies
- Neurotoxicity screening
- Drug testing and pharmacodynamics
- Cardiac electrophysiology
- Retinal recordings
- Exploratory work in other excitable cell systems
Key advantages to highlight:
- High resolution: Signals can be resolved nearly at the single-cell level
- Non-invasive and label-free: No dyes or genetic modifications required
- High throughput: Record from thousands of sites simultaneously
- Long-term monitoring: Ideal for developmental and chronic studies
- 3D module: Enables recording from thick tissues and organoids
In a nutshell: Easy Peasy Electrophysiology…at least as much as we can make it!
