Decolonize Global Health Educational Day
Join us at the Decolonize Global Health Educational Day on Zoom Tuesday 8th December 2020 at 8:30 - 12:30.
In collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University, a student group from the master’s program in public health would like to invite you to our online event “Decolonize Global Health Educational Day” on Tuesday 8th December 2020 at 8:30 - 12:30.
Currently, in Global Health academic discourse, there are numerous discussions taking place regarding the need to teach global health in a historically rich context. Additionally, there is a growing desire to acknowledge the colonial roots of this profession, address the power imbalances in research approaches, and confront discriminatory practices. Inspired by the success of other global health student groups across the globe, we have decided to contribute to this conversation and hope to bring a new perspective to this issue.
Our goal is to bring together critical thinkers and discuss the importance of decolonization in the field of public health. More information regarding the speakers and their area of expertise to follow shortly. We hope you are able to attend the event, and we look forward to engaging in meaningful discussions with you as we work together to decolonize our institution.
